Introduction

In the third part of our blog series, we focus on how SAP Order and Delivery Scheduling (ODS) can be integrated into an existing SAP system landscape. Using an example, we demonstrate how schedules defined in SAP ODS can be transferred to SAP S/4HANA.

How SAP ODS can be integrated

SAP ODS can be integrated seamlessly into the SAP S/4HANA landscape, allowing for centralised management of order and delivery schedules. No additional development is needed, as SAP ODS can be connected via standard SAP integration. Standard integration options are available for the following systems:

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP Predictive Replenishment (PRP)
  • SAP Customer Activity Repository (CAR)

SAP ODS can also distribute scheduling information to non-SAP systems via APIs.

SAP BTP – the basis for integration

The SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) lies at the heart of integrating SAP Order and Delivery Scheduling (ODS). It provides a secure, scalable cloud environment that streamlines the development and operation of applications such as SAP ODS.

Here, relevant master data is transferred from the SAP S/4HANA system to SAP ODS. The order and delivery schedules are then passed on from SAP ODS to the connected systems.

In the below example, we created an order for the scheduling group “Mineral water”. Once SAP ODS scheduling was activated for the order and the dates were imported into SAP S/4HANA, they became available for the specified order type.

Closing thoughts

Integrating SAP Order and Delivery Scheduling into an existing SAP S/4HANA landscape (SAP PRP, SAP S/4) is a key step towards enabling centrally managed order and delivery schedules across an organisation.

The basis for such integration is the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), which enables connectivity with existing systems and offers key advantages – such as faster development and greater scalability – helping your company remain competitive.
